Datong wins key US order as growth continues

Surveillance firm Datong has won a major contract with the American defence sector.
It is the largest US contract won by the Leeds-based company for more than 18 months and is perceived to be an important step in the recovery of the American marketplace.
Datong specialises in the design and manufacture of advanced high performance intelligence gathering equipment used to track criminals and terrorists.
The US contract will result in it supplying tracking and location equipment to the US defence sector. Datong has a wholly owned subsidiary in the US with an office in Chantilly, Virginia.
Yorkshire has the fastest growing digital and new media sector in the UK after London.
There are more than 13,000 businesses in digital and new media in Yorkshire & Humber, which adds almost £5.25bn of gross value to the sector and the electronics industries employs nearly 25,000 people in the region, generating annual sales of £3.8bn and contributing £1.7bn towards the region’s GVA.
Yorkshire Forward has made digital and new media a ‘priority sector’, targeting investments to help the industry innovate, grow and compete for the future.
